The current political climate has presented difficulties for physicians and scientists who feel uncomfortable expressing their views on many topics that may be considered politically sensitive. More and more, certain views are felt to be unacceptable. Many self-censor due to fear of saying “the wrong thing”. The rise of social media has made this even more challenging.
Although this was already a significant issue prior to COVID, it became more blatant in the medical profession over the last 2 years. Colleges sent explicit directives telling physicians that they could not disagree with public health guidelines.
This is NOT good for medicine or science. What if physicians were not allowed to criticize wanton opioid prescribing pushed by Big Pharma in the 90's? What if we were not allowed to suggest that thalidomide was causing problems in babies? Progress towards the truth is dependent on argumentation.
What are the bounds of free speech for physicians and other professionals? What should they be? Do we give up the right – or part of it - to express our opinion when we enter a profession? How do we reasonably limit free speech while not shutting down critical areas of discussion?
My wife Dr. Julie Curwin and I have started a new initiative called Free Speech in Medicine and Science. FreeSpeechInMedicine.com was launched to explore these very issues. We need more clarity around what we can and cannot say.
We hope that some of you can join us at our first annual conference Oct 28-30th in beautiful Baddeck, Nova Scotia. Details are on our website. We have an incredible list of speakers, and attendees. It will be well worth the trip.
Speakers include Dr. Jay Bhattacharya- -Stanford Epidemiologist of Great Barrington Declaration fame, Bruce Pardy - lawyer, professor, noted constitutional law expert and founder of rightsprobe.org, Trish Wood former CBC science journalist now of trishwoodpodcast.com, Dr. Shawn Whatley of the MacDonald-Laurier Institute and emergency physician, pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Martha Fulford who will speak on COVID vaccines for children, Dr. Francis Christian surgeon-poet-writer and champion of informed consent, and Dr. Stanley Goldfarb former Dean of Medical Education at UPenn and founder of DoNoHarmMedicine.org fighting back against negative trends in medicine. The list of attendees is as impressive, with physicians coming from as far away as Australia. This conference will be a great chance to meet like-minded people and discuss difficult topics in an open and reasonable environment.
For more information, please contact: christophermilburn@protonmail.com or call me at 902-322-6852. Although this year’s conference focuses mainly on issues within the medical field, and in particular issues brought to a head by COVID, the conference will be of interest more broadly to any professionals or interested public who feel impacted or uncomfortable about creeping limitations to free speech and public discussion.
We hope to see you there. Conference dates, agenda, and registration information is all available on the website freespeechinmedicine.com

Doctors are to be 'struck off' if they malign deadly vaccines! What if Doctors simply state "Covid Vax DOES NOT STOP YOU GETTING COVID" or "Covid Vax DOES NOT STOP the TRANSMISSION" or "Covid injections can Kill or permanently injure recipients", or "Why is Big Pharma not LIABLE for any side effects or DEATHS caused by their EXPERIMENTAL medicines?" All these facts are controversial but TRUE! 'LIABILITY' for 'Vax' makers (not Governments) would make a difference. It's just COMMON SENSE! Good luck with your Meeting! Mick from Hooe (UK) Unjabbed and ready! PS. Have you heard the Wuhan Lab boys just got another massive NIH Grant to create the next Bat related Pandemic!
