CRTC+TRANS GROUP MAY KICK FOX NEWS TO THE CURB

Canada is becoming the most censored western country in the world.

I never thought I would be defending Fox News after the firing of Tucker Carlson, the dumbest move ever by television executives. But here we are. The CRTC has opened a public consultation on the removal of Fox from the list of non-Canadian programming authorized for distribution here. EGALE, a gay and trans activist group complained — about Tucker Carlson. Special interests are working with the government to prevent you from watching Fox News — which you probably don’t want to do now that Tucker is gone, anyway. But that’s not the point.

A CRTC move might seem moot, since there is not much left on the dying channel, hemorrhaging viewers and credibility but this story began before Tucker was sacked. And it is as dangerous to the future of our country as Bill C-11 — handing even more power to the CRTC — the kind of group-thinky bureaucrats who failed so miserably on C-19. Let’s face it, government ministers don’t appoint people they don’t agree with to commissions like the CRTC.

As a free speech absolutist — I defend EGALE’s right to manipulate government agencies for the win. Lots of similar lobbying groups do it. But rabid censorship demands by organizations who don’t argue the merits of their case with unbiased data is, to steal an overused phrase, an actual threat to democracy. It is a messaging exercise and sadly a very effective one.

Criticism of sexualized drag shows for kids and inappropriate pornographic curricula in schools plus legitimate debate about the merits of early hormones and surgery, are attacked as transphobic and even murderous.

And we live in Trudeau’s Canada where free speech is a quaint relic of the past and blatant partisan corruption flourishes under the BE KIND banner.

Our prime minister and his protected-class voters seem to be working in tandem to make sure we aren’t exposed to any news, ideas or commentary that threaten informational control. A quick review of CRTC leadership suggests Carlson/Fox or anyone else challenging the current thing narrative might not get a fair hearing. The Chair was appointed by Liberal Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez who is responsible for Bill C-11 which hands the commission huge power over our digital lives.

Below is a segment of the EGALE letter that got the regulatory ball rolling against Fox. I read it when it was first released and found it was so hyperbolic and data-free that I assumed the CRTC would give this one a pass. But no.

The letter refers to a show Carlson did following the Nashville Christian School shooting by a transgender person whose manifesto has not yet been released. Nowhere does the letter acknowledge the shooting of six people, three of them children — a massive news story that prompted Tucker’s show in the first place.

During the segment, Carlson made the inflammatory and false claim that trans people are “targeting” Christians. To position trans people in existential opposition to Christianity is an incitement of violence against trans people that is plain to any viewer. The segment also contained a range of other malicious misinformation about 2STNBGN people, including that trans people are given preferential treatment in employment and other opportunities. This is clearly an attempt to stoke resentment against 2STNBGN people.  

EGALE also drops this accusation: Carlson made false and horrifying claims about 2STNBGN people, painting them as violent and dangerous. Again, the letter leaves out context by not acknowledging the attack on Billboard Chris in Vancouver which happened on March 31 — six days before the date of the letter. The narrow escape from violent trans protestors on March 25th by Kellie Jay Keen in Auckland minutes after a trans activist had punched an older woman in the face, breaking a bone, is also absent from the letter. So far none of the legacy media reporting includes these facts but they all quote directly from EGALE, as if the organization is above journalistic scrutiny.

The EGALE letter doesn’t give the date for the Tucker Carlson episode but I found it and here is a link and a screenshot.

Carlson’s offending words seem to be that he was questioning a disputed claim by EGALE of an exponential rise in anti-trans violence. Parsing these statistics is for another day — but recently the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ advocacy group admitted that some of the murders in the stats used have nothing to do with trans identity. But questioning numbers delivered by a protected class is verboten and akin to actual violence. Or so they say. It is a clever way to shut down all debate.

If failing to tell the truth and not report and analyze honestly is the basis for CRTC dropping a foreign cable network, I could make a cracking good case against CNN and MSNBC without breaking a sweat. From the Hunter Biden laptop blackout, Covington kids cruelty, Russia hoax, misbegotten war-pushing, fealty to the Democratic party, lies about C-19 including adulation of Tony Fauci and Randi Weingarten, complicity with the corrupt national security apparatus, capture by leftist ideology…I could go on. But you already know it. Because you are here — reading Substack instead of watching Wolf Blitzer. And you are smarter for it.
