Richard you are correct it didn't happen over night. But man, C-19 it accelerated into oblivion. I'm still shaken by how far my old employer, CBC has fallen.
Post-script: one of the consequences of biased media news coverage is it misses major developments in important news stories. We see this, for example in coverage of Russia-Ukraine war. Zero Hedge just did a story on media misses in that war. These are misses that in the past newsrooms (such as at CBC) would never have missed. What we have now is news coverage with a blindfold over one eye, or both eyes
Congratulations. This is journalism as I remember it on CBC. What changed & when? That would require a book because the cultural shift is global & ubiquitous across ALL institutions in our society. This did not happen overnight. It's been building for decades & is commensurate with a global vision put forward at Rio in 1992 & by the WEF's Great Reset. That vision (not mine) has been brilliantly put in place by powerful, unelected technocrats who are working towards an endgame that is best defined as a totalitarian biosecurity state, necessary, we are told, to save the planet but in reality packaged under an appealing banner by the same gang of imperialist thugs who wrecked our world in the first place and who now have the stunning technology coupled with the power and influence to pull off their Great Reset. As Prof Desmet says it's too late to stop it but our voices of resistance and our refusal to cooperate may well prevent the horrors of the Holocaust, the Gulag, Mao's Cultural Revolution from happening again though I'm less optimistic
Thanks to the commenters. This was a heartbreaking interview for both of us -- who grew up professionally in the mothercorp -- but those days are long gone. The old timers there still taking the cash should speak out but that is unlikely. Pensions, payouts and reputational harm are on the line and we do not live in a time of journalistic courage.
Another bizarre Twitter situation again; I suspect it's a robot that didn't like a certain word ?
I've been hearing so many people coughing everywhere it seems and I suspect there are no dots connected but I'm sure they will be lining up for the next batch , that apparently will not be requiring any testing or data : future framework . Kind of wonder how many more drugs will be pushed and marketed on the public in warp speed with no safety data .
Was it ever a democracy. Truly. We were thought to believe we are free but truly we are slaves a lot of us working 7 days a week now to survive a system they set up. Since the internet people have been speaking & sharing ideas getting smarter and that’s a bad thing. Elites don’t like that.
Now they want us to believe it’s for our safety and now trying to control your internet content , in the name of safety of course.
At least when we thought we were free we could move around and express our opinions without repercussions from government.
We do have a constitution that is being ignored completely. Sadly people think that’s alright lately.
Short answer. No. We're no longer living in a democracy.
Nor have we been for some time. It's all an illusion. Money is in charge of humanity, not the other way around. "Until you change how money works, you change nothing." RIP Michael C. Ruppert Until and unless we develop an economic system that is truly equitable and distributes resources fairly among the population, we will never enjoy full democracy.
I believe it's too late. I believe our planet has been so degraded and our genetic make-up so compromised that we are no longer capable of thinking clearly enough as a species to come up with anything resembling a just and fair society. Maybe I'm cynical. If we do, it will be among small tribal communities like we lived in the past. Then again, there may be a black swan event that will reveal the true nature of the universe and we will learn we've been in a nightmare or education paradigm learning how to evolve, and we've failed miserably. Strap yourselves in. We're in for a very bumpy ride down the slope of collapse into dystopia.

I haven't watched CBC in a very long time. As a liberal-minded 63 year old grandmother, I'm appalled at the takeover of the media by corporate fascists who dictate how we can live our lives to the smallest detail. As an 'outsider' who has been kicked off most social media, but who holds the views and values of most average human beings, I marvel at how powerful propaganda can be. Otherwise thoughtful, hard-working, caring people, including nurses, doctors and teachers, have turned into bullies at best, sociopaths at worst. It has been a sight to behold for sure. And I'm fortunate that my immediate family was mostly immune to it and I managed to keep my employment. I shudder to think about the incredible suffering of others who weren't so lucky and how much worse it's going to get.
Strap yourselves in. We're in for a very bumpy ride down into a dystopian future. One which many wise people predicted and warned us about but they were ignored.
Also have not watched CBC or other mainstream legacy media in many years, plus was was only briefly on FaceBook, never on Twitter or any of the others. There is so much more thoughtful, reasoned and humble comment elsewhere on the Internet. Maybe that helped me escape the groupthink which has imbued even my own immediate family and made me an outcast. I really fear for the years ahead. Europe and North America seem to be on a path to societal suicide. When nudge fails and othering vilification fails, further escalation of coercion is to be expected - prison (Tamara Lich is only amongst the first), gulags and execution being the logical and historical progression.

WEF is all I have to say. Someone is pulling the strings to many countries and government leaders(so called 😏) goose stepping together.
There’s a bigger Agenda here. As we seen by the recent Rogers blackout DIGITAL iD & Currency are not the future but another form of control.
“You’re a bad citizen “ simple flick of the switch.
🤷♀️
Fabulous article and I will send to others .

When a government can so quickly and easily weaponize the media and our judicial system are we still living in a democracy?

Thoughtful and well written. Thanks
