I also read an X thread by one of @scoopercooper ‘s buddies @SNeumanPodcast about the Mark Carney and Frank McKenna (TD BANK CHAIR) connection that will curl your hair. There is so much red meat here for reporters. Were are they.? Add to this drama the upcoming verdict in the trial for Tamara and Chris and its getting to a fever pitch! Hope this energizes you Trish. As I've mentioned, I believe liaberals/MC will win the election and we'll even more years with the inmates running the asylum, driving Canada even further down the wrong path.
I see the Canadian media has started the bitter attacks on PP, escalating from a simmer to a full-on boil of negative coverage. Expect the usual "Conservatives will outlaw abortions, they hate immigrants, they'll join with Trump to become fascists, etc.". And it sells in Toronto, apparently, as the province continues to elect an array of incompetents (Chow, anyone?, Ford?).
Canadians won't know if Carney (or his "blind" trust) owns shares or debt of Brookfield or of foreign oil & gas companies until after the election. But if he does, here's how crushing Canada's oil & gas companies benefits him & Brookfield: First, shutting down Canada as a source of oil & gas raises the demand for same from the foreign companies he and Brookfield are invested in, raising their value so he & Brookfield make more money. Second, the value of stranded Canadian oil & gas assets drops sharply so Brookfield & Carney (sorry, his "blind" trust) can pick them up for next to nothing. Third, after a suitable pause, PM Carney declares there's an energy emergency so he has to unstrand Canadian oil & gas, making the value jump back up to his & Brookfield's benefit. Simple, tried & true, and diabolical.
A great article Trish. I am rattled this am by the announcement of our new Liberal candidate in Peterborough. She is a very sweet looking woman. A third generation farmer and young mother who grew a following on IG threads by getting political. Her goal is to bring community together. Very squeaky clean and tbh I’d agree with her on many things likely. Where it rubs me is the hypocrisy - that she likely isn’t even aware of. First from what I’ve understood for years her party is out to destroy farmers either through land grab maneuvers or insane costs and we all know what liberals think about cows. So how she represents a party that is behind these policies I don’t know. Then there is the campaign of “hope” that she is running versus the campaign of “hate” the conservative is being accused of (maybe not directly by this liberal woman but indirectly by others) running - hate because the conservative (Michelle Ferrari) is revealing truths about what the Liberals are up to. Finally bringing the community together is beautiful. I want that. I am aware the community is fractured because people like me didn’t do what the scared people wanted them to do (and the Liberals worked division and hate hard in their platform) and now people like me see truth (and hypocrisy) where others see hope and I feel like there is an almost 100% chance this woman wants to create community with like minded people. She doesn’t want to answer to people like me so….its going to be a long month while we wait to figure out how many Canadians are brainwashed by a fake leader who sadly has decent people following him as his disciples but (maybe?) who have no clue how sinister he is and who despite what I believe are good intentions create the partisanship they claim to abhor. (Sorry…big rant)
