Trish, have you seen this? CBC announces 600 worker layoff despite massive government subsidies

The CBC is apparently unable to keep afloat amid growing distrust in mainstream media despite over a billion dollars in funding per year by the Trudeau government. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/cbc-announces-600-worker-layoff-despite-massive-government-subsidies/

Yes I did see this and it is probably not bad news. The people have spoken. Woke-causes do not a newsroom make and they need to revolutionize back to the old ways of actual reporting.

Yes, I thought it was a good thing, for sure. Thank you for being on the right side of history...so glad we are all here together trying to make things better. ❤

".....deride those complaining as racist and, of course, far right." - I came to Canada as a sponsored refugee / immigrant in 1977 at the age of 3. I am deeply concerned about migration, immigration (legal and illegal) and border issues. Does this make me far right and a racist or does it make me a concerned Canadian that is looking at our insane housing market, our crashing health system, a widening inequality/wealth gap and a bunch of wildly out of touch governments across the spectrum and thinking that we need to get our damn house in order before we invite people on over. You all tell me.

I find many who express hatred towards the truckers or others they do not politically identify with have no direct knowledge of events and just parrot what they are told. My BIL expresses his disgust at Joe Rogan but has never bothered to listen to any of his podcasts because his bias won't allow for it. These are the ones we are trying to persuade.

If anyone has noticed we are all now the enemy in our own country. As I watch the invasion of our country and see we have purposely been left with no army or airforce to defend ourselves, my stress rises. From what I have heard the US is now putting all the young men who are coming in droves across their borders, who are seemingly all with out wives, young, strong, and single, armed with Visa cards and directions, to America. That said alone of the Democrats let it slip that they were being put into the army with the promise of citizenship if they fight for the US. My thought is these foreigners will be turned on the American people and the invasion will come from inside. For Americans, they are armed, where in Canada we are not. We are but sitting ducks and ready for the take over which started some time ago and I see the ramp up of the chaos. I hope people are ready for it but as it stands, we can not even get them to care about Canada as they are too busy filling themselves with self loathing while demonizing those who are more patriotic. If people are not afraid right now, they should be. I would suggest arming yourselves, whether you like guns or not, you may need one to save yourselves. I truly am feeling this and I am seriously afraid for all those who watch the mainstream media, as that in its self is indoctrination and we saw how easy it was to get people to hate the unvaccinated, it will be a piece of cake for them to create further hatred for Jewish people and Christians, then it will be white people in general. They have been busy ramping up division and hatred for the people of Israel and those who stand with them. They are digging in hard and pushing the Trudeau narrative after the Infusion of millions of our money. We see the streets full of young foreign men here as well. I am just saying that something evil this way comes and I can feel it getting stronger as each day goes by. Watch your backs. I mean that in the most purposeful and honest way that I can put across. Something is very, very, wrong and it’s coming to us very soon. I wish you all well and hope desperately that I am very wrong but I don’t think so. Stay strong and stay free, if you can.

Good to get a behind the scenes look and feel for what you are doing Trish. I love listening to you. I do wish you well and safe travels. BTW - In the last few weeks I've listened to various interviews (podcasts mostly) with important folks here and in Canada and remember a few people who still credit the truckers for changing the momentum towards tyranny for all of us. I felt a shift here in the states too. I will never forget them. Heroes all!

When you post emailed links to Substacks, here's a friendly hack:

Remove ("cut") everything from the question mark (?) onward. ("Tracking data".)

Example:

https://sagehana.substack.com/p/andherewego

The example link (url) will take you there.

Fair enough.... not sure I will do it every time..... but will keep that into consideration....

Expand full comment

A techie taught me that. Not only does it shorten the url, it also eliminates tracking (back to you...).

For instance, to link to this stack article comment thread (or article, once in it), just click on the three dotted "side triangle" top right. Hit "copy url".

Paste:

https://trishwood.substack.com/p/convoy-doc-diary-and-irelands-globalist/comment/44827639?r=yp4jv

Remove everything from "?" forward. In this case, remove: ?r=yp4jv

Url to our comment thread should now appear as:

https://trishwood.substack.com/p/convoy-doc-diary-and-irelands-globalist/comment/44827639

Not as convenient as what many folks normally do in order to pay data forward, I realize that.

Useful knowledge nonetheless. 😉

Thank you Trish ~ my hat is off to you, yet again... btw, that would be my favourite ‘NO’ hat, from your merch store. Over the past few years you became a lifeline for truth in our household, and you continue to be so. We encourage others to seek out your work via your podcast and Substack. After the release of the National Citizens Inquiry report this past week it is evident that we each need to find ways that we may play a role to build a better way forward. We each need to step up in ways that we are able – no matter how big, or small. There is no knight in shining armour coming to save us. Keep shining your much needed light!

I do believe the clamps on the convoy was very much a “class issue” unfortunately during the covid shenanigans, every single “protective group” that was supposed to be protective fell by the way side. Nursing colleges, Physcians colleges, police, unions, pastors, human rights groups, OF course many did stand, but surprisingly few - when preachers were dragged through the streets in Canada you knew it was not good, when Doctors were chastised “JUST FOR questioning mandates -and drug through the mud-you know it was not good. -and still the trauma continues with massive law suits

Trauma is something very poorly understood.

When a migrant arrives, they are likely to be escaping something. Often what they are escaping is horrific, whether it is a war, political or economic repression, or just awful family situations. As a result, migrants are often highly traumatized.

It is easy to say that all a traumatized person needs is a hug. Simply put, this is not true, as trauma can really damage people. If the community that is welcoming that person does not understand this, they can be quickly overwhelmed.

We don't like to talk about this in polite company, but a highly traumatized person is likely to have some very destructive behavior's. This can range from alcohol or drug addiction, to severe mental health concerns exhibited by very disruptive behavior (suicidal, violent, bizarre acting out, ....). Bottom line, some traumatized people can be very violent, and when they are brought into a village in rural Ireland, that community likely has no capacity to deal with it, let alone understand it.

This is a hard issue as people need to go somewhere, but Governments do have a responsibility to protect their citizens, and simply bringing in migrants and dumping them with out support is not okay.

If Governments are going to welcome people who are highly traumatized, they do also need to ensure that the communities that welcome them are safe.

The best solution to this, in a utopian world would be no wars, no pollical repression anywhere on this planet, and everyone being a part of a loving family. Since the opposite seems to be happening, we need to have a serious conversation about the horrific damage to humanity these wars have.

After living through the lies of the past 3-3/4 years I question war now more so than ever. I wish that I could be more empathetic, but it seems to me that Covid, as well as the wars in Ukraine and Israel were specifically created to traumatize, divide and create unrest. I no longer believe that any level of government in the west actually cares for the well being of its citizens and taxpayers. It seems like there has been a global coup d'etat that has yet to be officially declared.

Expand full comment

No one has any idea if the migrants have been traumatized. There are virtually no checks and balances to establish who exactly is walking across the border. Legitimate refugee, criminal or opportunist.

What is increasingly beyond dispute is the escalating rates of trauma on the existing population.

I do understand the thought of two solitudes in terms of how many people reacted to the trucker convoy. However as I have mentioned before, my experience has not necessarily supported this theory. My sister and brother-in-law, my niece and her husband and my nephew and his wife, are all what I would describe as working class. My brother-in-law worked at the paper mill almost his entire life, my sister had many jobs to support the family, my niece worked for a lawyer, but as a secretary, her husband is a plumber, my nephew is a carpenter, and his wife and clerical worker. One of my very best friends is a bus driver and his wife runs her own small business. All of these people I would classify as working class, yet none of them had any use for the truckers. I would describe their feelings as disgust to be frank. No amount of my telling them my own experience in visiting the convoy would change their minds. As a matter of fact, they will simply shut me down. Not wanting to cause a rift in the family, because we are not a large family, I just don't talk to them about it anymore. Also I might add they all also suffer from Trump derrangement syndrome. I don't know if anyone has ever thought to see if these things pair up, but I find a lot of that around people I know who hated the truckers.

Re: Your fam.

One question: Do they watch T.V. and get their news via "mainstream media outlets"?

Expand full comment

Yes they do, of course. And they chose to believe that, over what I told them I experienced first-hand when I visited the Convoy. They also didn't watch anything from the POEC, which debunked so many of the accusation made against the convoy--other than the card carrying Liberal commissioner ruled Trudeau was justified in invoking the act. Such bull.

I am not suggesting all blue collar people and all elites share a monolithic view. The point is that Ottawa, full of bureaucrats, working from home, ordering Uber Eats, and riding their Pelotons while making full pay -- and then propagandized by their PM -- were a hostile territory for the truckers to enter. If you follow the mayor and the 2nd police chief they were actively lying and trying to harm the protest in any way possible. Funny --- I was talking to a man last night who had TDS and hated the truckers. So def something there.

I agree Trish. I certainly did watch Jim Watson lose his mind over the truckers 'defacing' the Terry Fox memorial and the fact that the truckers had bouncy castles for their kids. He was over the top crazy on the matter. Chief Sloly seemed to flip flop on a lot, but when Bell took over his hatred for the truckers was palpable and any thinking person in charge of appointing him should have seen that and had him removed. His vow to track everyone of them down and arrest them, so disgusting. As for my families being anti-truckers. What can I say they only watch mainstream media.

The people in my life that did not believe, or were very skeptical of the Covid narrative cut across many social strata and careers. I have met univertity pHD's, business owners, professionals, as well as working class people. Many have also had connections to the former Eastern bloc countries, and therefore, have better "BS Detection Skills" due to prior exposure to communist propaganda.

The most salient point in your comment was that they shut you down. No discussion, no debate and zero curiosity. That behaviour cuts across class lines. Covid was a defining event for many of us as our faith and trust in public institutions was irreparably damaged. We cannot unsee that. It is my highly unscientific observation that many people are terrified of acknowledging that reality. For a myriad of reasons, an admission that the country is broken is simply too traumatic to accept. Its far easier to demonize the truckers and remain secure in their delusion. For now!

Expand full comment

You are so very right in that observation, which is pretty much Jordan Peterson's observation. Either that the truckers were right or the institutions that Canadians put their faith in and trust for decades had betrayed us. Too big a pill to swallow for many, at the expense of actually cutting family ties. That in itself is a pretty hard pill to swallow too.

I agree. It’s more about conformity. As the only Christian in my family we have long made different decisions. It looks conservative to my union parents and conservatives are evil. They prefer the narrative because they don’t have to think or be brave or rejected. As a Christian I have long practiced these things so Covid while more isolating in my difference was more of the same.

I agree 100%. I often use the "can't unsee that" phrase in my "self talk" when I question myself and try to check my biases.

Sorry! The indocrination industrial complexes do their job well. The proclivity of Homo sapiens to believe "stories" as Harari calls the ruling classes Lies and scams is genetic and few are able to counter it. Working classes have always eaten their own, put on the menu by the purveyors of propaganda. From your teacher and priests to the finest hucksters using psych tricks Edward Bernays couldn't imagine and using technology Orwell couldn't imagine and of course the ol' carrot of social conformity V's the stick of social exclusion, it's hard to think 🤔 when thinking and worse, speaking make your life harder, perhaps intolerable. Keep on thinking but also keep your relationships.

It would be interesting to interview Evan Solomon as a member of the Canadian MSM during the convoy on why they sought to portray the truckers the way they did. He spent some time at the protest.
