When you write "I now know how countries have fallen to the dark side," I think about the toxic poisoned society we inhabit. The examples you give of social media comments about the convoy protesters are akin to numbers of friends I would have described as "thoughtful" etc. over the years. But they lost the plot and bought into the scapegoating of the protesters by our PM and the media. After several years of the pandemic all that free-floating anxiety was directed at the Freedom Convoy by those in search for someone or something to blame for our not getting "back to normal" by getting "100 percent of Canadians" vaccinated, as the Prime Minister seemed to be saying. There are wins and losses. At a brunch the other day, I passed on being specific about what new material I was writing about, as the host asking me the question had been exploding in conversations with me about the "truckers" 18 months ago. I was wary of how triggered my host at the brunch could get with my mention of some of my articles on the POEC, Coutts Four and convoy.

But, yesterday, I phoned a longtime friend and her new boyfriend who I'd shared my interviews with you. I hadn't heard back in a week. I was ready for a friendship to suddenly be over. But they were both impressed and astonished that my counter-narrative articles and interviews with you were so rare. And they became a bit more aware that the mainstream media make omissions, which was a "shock" to them. But I fear those who are reachable are not as many as we need. And it is an emotional challenge when each risk of raising these discussions can be met with not only interest and appreciation, but with another cancelled friendship. Still I will persist.

I now ironically listen to songs like the 1968 song by the Cowsills, "In Need Of A Friend".

Here are the lyrics:

You say you know somebody

Someone who feels down when you're feeling sad

Who's up when you're glad

But I don't know anybody

Haven't a person, don't know where I stand

Gee you're a lucky man

Hey, I need a friend

Not just a wall that I talk to

But a mind having doors I can walk through

I need a friend

Yes, I do

You say you know somebody

Someone who shows you the way when you're lost

At any cost

But I don't have anybody

I grope in the dark and I'm totally blind

Hey don't you think that's unkind?

Hey, I need a friend

Not just a wall that I talk to

But a mind having doors I can walk through

I need a friend

Yes, I do

I think I know somebody

Someone who feels just the way that you do

He reminds me of you

But, you'll have find that body

I'm sorry there's nary a thing I can do

You see it's all up to you

But, you'll find a friend

Not just a wall that you talk to

Just show him the door he can walk through

You'll find a friend

Yes, you can...

I have another question. What is happening in your public schools in Canada? Are your schools still promoting learning? We’ve run into a problem here in the US.

With all the talk of Equity as the final end all. Those in charge of education have decided the easiest way to go about that is taking the accelerated classes out and basically lowering the common denominator.

Parents became aware during Covid lock downs. And are now getting involved with the schools. They are speaking out. Only to be investigated as domestic terrorists. It’s very sad.

But The Parents don’t care. Right after Covid lockdowns ended they’ve taken charge. Lots of good things are happening. I’ve not heard anything about Canada public education system. Hope it’s still strong.

The public school system in Canada is a woke mess, although parents are atarting to push back similar to what is happening with our neighbour's to the south

For crikey sake Trish, thought you were heading off for a "holiday." So much to unpack reading this sub.

The indigenous there and false reporting, am so sorry I cannot input regarding your report as am not up to speed on the subject matter.

Me in Bali were with the Truckers as soon as we found out. Was so into listening to all the CB radio action. Donated money in support through gofuckme (excuse the language, has an honest ring to it though.) Never received a refund, even though I requested it.

As a New Zealander, I feel your struggles in Canada immensely, yet Canada imo is way worse. Am absolutely bereft and pissed off how Castro's son LOL has been able to get away with as much as he has... Same for Jabcinda. What a piece of work she is.

Had to go to NZ a few months ago as my younger 46yr old brother had a fast insane liver cancer diagnosis. Beyond sad, he passed just 4mths after diagnosed. He wasn't jabbed. Just saying. When we were there, the magnitude post the scamdemic was heartbreaking. My Country's people have changed. Businesses have changed. So many people are struggling to make ends meet.

So Trish and fellow Canadians, I feel you and for the Truckers who laid their everything to make peace. God bless Tamira and all. Amen.

Much love and light...And please try to take rest too....

There are three things I thought were true BC (before Covid): 1. The government, on the whole, made decisions in the best interest of its citizens; 2. The courts could be trusted to uphold the law, and the law was immutable; and, 3. We live in a democracy. With a mix of laughability and terror, I concede none of these are true. Trish, you, Tamara and Chris are entering the middle-earth underbelly of all three. It is the battleground that can no longer be upheld by any sense of tradition and predictability. It feels like what happens here is one of the hinge points that will define us as a country. I believe in the transitory nature of all things, including the world we live in, but I don't know how long this demonic phase will be. I hold the faith that hard times make strong men and women, but this in-the-middle place is unsettling to say the least.

I am traditionally not a flag waver, but today I placed a Canadian flag on my front step in honour of Tamara and Chris. Thank you for, once again, for sticking your neck out to illuminate the truth. Godspeed.

Hi Trish, I am an avid listener and critical thinker(thanks to you and my husband). I really enjoy hearing from the myriad of guests you feature, and learn a lot from their expertise. However, sometimes I think we need to hear stories of “regular” people who are trying to make a difference. I ask you to consider interviewing my husband, Gene Balfour. He has been actively sending messages about excessive government ruining our freedoms for many years. From running as a political candidate to writing daily in his own substack, Gene shows a commitment to creating awareness about this issue that is worth sharing on your show. Recently he has joined a group that is challenging the passing of new bylaws which seem to be underwritten by the globalists at the UN and WEF at the municipal level. I believe your listeners would find his journey inspiring and actionable at a personal level. Thank you, Cynthia Sneath

There are so few people I can speak to openly about the convoy (and anything else covidian). It is shocking how quickly our fellow Canadians would throw “those people” in jail or under a bus. I don’t know how we come back from this. Whether one is able to forgive or not, how do you move forward in a relationship with people who’s way of thinking is diametrically opposed to yours? What’s the point? For those family members that I’m still on speaking terms with we keep well away from anything that happened over the past few years and I’m happy to do that to keep the peace because they are family. But former friends? No. Too much heartache.

I read in a SS somewhere yesterday that only 13% of the population are critical thinkers. I wonder what percentage of that are willing to stand up and say so out loud.

My husband and I are currently at our little lake, away from it all. If I put the phone down and don’t read any SSs I can almost forget that the world we now live in is not at all what I thought it was BC. I can almost forget that our kids futures are likely screwed, that the retirement life we had envisioned is gone and that Canada is not a democracy and hasn’t been for a very long time, minimum since #TrudeauTheTyrant went back on his promise of proportional representation.

Thank you Trish for your work. As I’ve told you many times, you helped me keep my sanity. Please pass on my best wishes to Tamara and Chris. They are our Davids. May they take down all the Goliaths in Ottawa.

Trish Wood speaks of “the administrative state” in the subtitle.

For the most complete explanation of this phenomenon - the administrative state as unaccountable leviathan - see NS Lyons, The Upheaval Substack, “China Convergence “. It is a masterpiece, fasten your seatbelt. It is not behind a paywall.

When my Mother-in-Law found out that I wasn't vaccinated, she said "Well, at least some of us are doing the right thing and thinking of other people."

As an Ottawa resident I can attest to the fact that the vast majority of Ottawa citizens were all in for believing every bit of false bullshit about the Convoy. I live in a neighbourhood populated by mostly upper middle class federal government employees in Ottawa. I brought up the Convoy with a number of people in my neighbourhood when the Convoy was in town. This was because I had actually gone down to see them and quickly discovered just how much the media was lieing about them, I tried to tell people of my experience. When I told them it was like a Canada celebration down there, and that every one was so kind and happy, they refused to believe me. All they could talk about was Nazi and Republican flags (that's what the idiots called the Confederate flag). Till this day, there is no point in discussing anything about the truckers with them. But, they feel quite free and safe in disparage them in conversations--because they assume everyone thinks the same way about them. This is much in the same way that the vast majority of people in the states and here too think they can trash Trump with no pushback at all. And on the subject of the War in the Ukraine, I had to cut short a call with one of my best friends, when she asked me for my thoughts on the war. Now it was she that asked me, not the other way around. When I gave her my thoughts, that it was nothing more than a proxy war between the US and Russia, or NATO and Russia and that it needed to end, well she wouldn't have it. So we decided to end the discussion before it got even more heated. I have since sent her links to Tucker Carlson's recent interview with Colonel Douglas MacGregor and your podcasts Trish--particularly your interview with Eva Bartlett who was actually on the ground in the Donbass area. Whether she will listen to them or whether it will change her view I don't know. I feel like I am living in world of two solitudes. One, is where I exist and get my news and form my opinions on various subjects. I follow Tucker Carlson, I subscribe to your podcasts, I read many articles in substack, although I cannot afford many more paid subscriptions. I also subscribe to the Epoch Times, the National Post, True North News, the Western Standard, which certainly gives me a different spin on current events. I also check out Rebel News from time to time. But I also watch CBC news, and CTV news, on their 24 hour news channels, as much as I can stomach it, I don't often get a chance to read the Globe or the Star, because I don't subscribe to them, and they have firewalls for their one line papers and I am not a wiz at hacking. What I am trying to say, is that I do try to get both sides of the story--or versions of it rather. But my friend, who lives in the US, watches CNN etc, and sees PBS as her go-to for getting a neutral reporting on the news, which is as far left and captured as the rest of them. So my friend lives in the other solitude relying in mainstream media period. As much as you, Trish, and your listeners, recognize the gigantic failure and dishonesty of the mainstream media, there are still millions and millions of Canadian who still see them as their 'trusted' news source. As I live in Ottawa I am hoping to attend from of Tamara's trial, again to see it first hand without the filter of a biased media who will be salivating--no doubt--to report all things bad, and turn a blind eye to any evidence that shines a positive light on this brave little woman.

Sadly, the mainstream media is the enemy. Without their propaganda, would anyone have even noticed that there was a pandemic?

You are so very right. In lockstep with the government they spread fear and division, endorsing every lie that came from our governments. Never once did they question anything about vaccines or masking or the virulence of the virus. The only time they asked questions was when a government, primarily a conservative one, did not lockdown down long enough or fast enough. Yet, with the walls crumbling down they display no shame or remorse for not doing their jobs. I wrote a piece on this on my substack The Intrepid Viking.https://roxannehalverson.substack.com/p/tirade-on-vaccine-mandates-and-the

Most people when they have to choose between what they have been conditioned, indoctrinated to believe and observable provable reality will choose what they believe. It's how a small ruling class Dreck can control the masses. Pharoah used the genetic flaw in Homo sapiens for control and our ruling classes are so much more sophisticated than Pharoah.

Expand full comment

I believe it is also similar to Jordan Peterson's observation when it comes to Canadians. He they have to choose between one of two realities and that is in the case of the truckers that they were a bunch of violent extremist, bigoted racists, or that our governments and institutions, which we have been able, for the most part, to rely upon for that past 150 have become so corrupted and dishonest, they can no longer trust them or depend on them to do what is in the best interested of they people or themselves. And for many that is just too much to deal with.

I am amazed that this trial is taking place in such an inhospitable city where the leaders (so deemed) of the Convoy were held unjustly, with out bail, due to partisan and politically motivated, judicial members. To continue the unjust treatment, a change of venue for the members of the convoy was denied, even though it’s well known that Ottawa is full of Liberal Partisan judges, lawyers, ideologues, think tanks, and bureaucracy. This is a city where they only appoint judges who donate to the Liberal Party of Canada making the entire function of our Legal system completely “unjust” and dangerously partisan. This is deemed Canada’s “justice” system ( when it is now an absolute abomination of the very word)?

Should they not wait for the Federal Courts determination on the legality of the Emergency Act being invoked first, before they try the convoy for acts they did not commit?

Expand full comment

And we know Trudeau-appointed judges were and continue to be Liberal Party donors, so it's questionable as to whether Canadians can get a fair trial if they engage in wrong speak or embarrass the malignant narcissist-in-chief by peacefully protesting. We live in a banana republic without the bananas or the good weather. Thank you Trish for continuing to follow this story and supporting Chris and Tamara. The outcome of this trial will determine whether our country is well and truly lost...and I wish that were hyperbole.
