It would seem that our Liberal Party didn't know that the most powerful army the world has ever seen lies an undefended border away, and we have no way of halting it. The government's primary external job was ensuring the 600 lb gorilla never became annoyed with us, in other words they should have been politic when dealing with the two Trump administrations, rather snotty, and morally superior. Canada can't win a trade war with an economy over ten times our size. Preemptively slamming in tariffs on US goods (123 pages of stuff, if you look) is just adding a 25% tax on consumers and wrapping it in false jingoism. If tariffs are a dumb thing for Trump to do, why is it a smart thing for our government to do? Carney will end this country.
Absolutely. Any Canadian business that isn't seriously harmed by the US tariffs will be crippled by the Canadian counter-tariffs. This will be worse than the covid debacle.
And hurt most of all, as usual, will be the Canadian consumer. Third world, here we come.
Let's not forget exactly WHO benefits from collecting these TARIFFS. Government bank accounts will grow substantially, while corporations and small businesses alike, pass on these additional costs to us, the consumer. Another attempt to destroy the middle class.
Yes, when it comes to down it, there is no way to physically secure this vast border and far-flung resources from the US (with 80%+ of the population within 200km of the border)… so, satoshis’ invention of a secure digital ledger backed by global energy networks is becoming of critical importance to Canadians
“Vote” Bitcoin my fellow canucks, can’t bomb math!!

In his excellent 2013 book, Chris Hatfield describes the extensive degree of planning, preparation and strategy required in order to prevent catastrophe in outer space. He summarizes the failure to do so in a single quote, "There is no problem so bad that we can't make it worse". Those words echo in my head as I watch Canadian politicians, who abjectly failed to prepare, now offer emotional, knee-jerk responses to U.S. tariffs.
Yep, rather than slandering Bitcoin and bitcoiners in ‘22, the liberals could have publicly begun buying at the low and effectively nullified the present American threats by making Canada debt-free (run the numbers and you will be surprised)
Next best time to start selling the hundreds of billions US treasuries for Bitcoin is today!
I’m 45 minutes in and I need to say, Trish, everything you’ve said 1000%. No you haven’t gone insane. Thank you for this broadcast, it sums up my sentiments exactly.
1. If Canada gets this upcoming election wrong (by electing MC), it is likely truly and fully cooked as any sort of place anyone with any options would want to call home.
2. Trump turning back on the provision of intelligence, war materials and targeting aid to Ukraine while it attacks Russian civilians should stop Russia from taking the US seriously. He was off to a good start, but now he's just being hypocritical. What an embarrassment.
3. Canada will get nowhere beating its chest about tariffs. They need to figure out what the US wants, and figure out how to make it happen. Nothing Canada has done in the last 10 years has put it in a position to be able to be self-sufficient or capable of being competitive on its own.
The absolute immediate issue is, CARNEY'S been 'placed' in this position by his WEF GLOBALIST buddies. For anyone of us to believe an upcoming election won't be rigged, think again. We already experienced it in BC. This 'cult' of liars schemers play dirty at a level we have never experienced until the infiltration the WEF acolytes who formed our government. I'm very worried.
Don’t disagree, however, consider that you don’t need carney (or anyone elses) permission to use bitcoin… the time is now to “exercise” peer-to-peer electronic cash
This pod was your absolute best IMO and I listen to many including the bros with Patrick Bet-David, the tech guys at the All In Pod and others. But you were different. Unrestrained or something. I have recommended you to so many. Maybe your time alone was really important. I have the book “Provoked” because its what I believed happened. Bravo!
Why, oh why, do the idiots that run our country choose to engage in an unwinnable trade war, rather than secure our borders against the influx of fentanyl? In light of the recent revelations that Trudeau met with Paul King Jin (I hope I remember the name correctly), it seems like the ruling class has some strong incentives to ensure that fentanyl continues to flood across the southern border.
On the related topic of the sudden patriotism our rulers have shown, it all rings so hollow. To quote the substitute drama teacher and part-time snowboarding instructor himself: "Canada is the first post-national state, with no core culture of its own for immigrants to assimilate into." And not a peep of disagreement was heard from the establishment. Oh, but now that the evil orange man would like us to stop the flow of drugs that are killing people, now it's time for enthusiastic flag waving. Fix problems? No, but Canada First! Performative nonesense, and nothing else.
Regarding your point on Media complicity. I encourage people to do some searches on the Grants and Contributions webpage. Search words eg, COVID, VACCINE HESITANCY, MEDIA, AIRLINES, MASKS, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), CANADIAN RED CROSS. Use your imagination and I assure you, you will be surprised and angered to see where our hard earned tax dollars are going and for what. https://search.open.canada.ca/grants/?sort=agreement_value+desc&search_text=&page=1#
Chinada isn’t and has never been a country, nor a democracy. Expectations and perception do not match. So cry bureau rats cry. We have the lieticians we deserve. Pain and catastrophe will cleanse the stupidity from our brains, then we will have hope. For now, hang the fuck on.
Trump is complaining about drugs and illegal people entering his country, why doesn’t he tighten up his own border? Last time I checked, countries cannot control who and what leaves their jurisdiction, they only control who and what comes in. So this is on Trump‘s CBP agency to “tighten up the border“. If illegal guns and drugs are coming into “our” country from the United States, that is a problem with our borders, and our CBSA officers are the ones responsible for that. But anything going into the United States is the responsibility of Trump‘s CBP officers. So how is this our fault? Hey Trump, if you’re so worried about things getting into your country, why don’t you give your CBP officers a pep talk and tighten up your borders?
The main “war” coming is who gets to control the ledger… too bad for the ‘murican “stablecoins”, the digital yuan and the digital euro (and whatever digital loonie monstrosity that is cooking) that many have opted for Bitcoin already
PS related to tariff wars is the introduction of even more middle men and “trusted third parties” that satoshi has already solved for … 16 years ago now :)
A good one today re Sam Cooper and how the Taiwan government is getting serious re the United Front's infiltration . It is sad so many have no idea what is happening here .
Canada and the US shares one of the longest borders in the world, with relatively few official crossing points, and lots of wilderness in between.
Last October, the RCMP busted a BC fentanyl lab with 54 kg of the stuff (in addition to other hard drugs) worth half a trillion dollars, and lethal enough to kill every Canadian twice.
In addition, BC had two licensed labs producing cocaine and other hard drugs, ostensibly as a regulated supplier for the "safe supply" channel. How leak-proof is that channel, however?
Last October, TD Bank was assessed a $US 3 billion penalty by the US Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, for failing to properly screen for money laundering operations by drug cartels.
While none of the above anecdotes prove that Canada is a narco state, it certainly does not negate that possibility.
I agree that it is the responsibility of each country to monitor what is coming in through its borders. Of course, the borderless, "post nation state" idea that has prevailed in Ottawa over the past decade would prefer not to deal with this.
For better or for worse, the US has much more relaxed firearms laws than Canada, for example. But we blame their gun culture for violent crime up here, rather than CBSA.
Conversely, Canada has the dubious distinction of becoming much too tolerant (IMHO) of drug use (and consequently, production). We can blame the US Border Security for not cracking down harder on inbound traffic, but do we, as Canadians, really want this drug culture to exist in the first place?
For what it's worth, I would argue that firearms that have distinct physical characteristics (they are relatively large, heavy and metal) are much easier to detect (think x-ray scans and metal detectors) than randomly sized plastic bags filled with powder.
Money laundering is a fake crime concocted by bankers in the 70s in a bid for complete transactional control… and is also a massive, highly ineffective (hmm, where’s that unredacted Epstein list now) wasteful Rube Goldberg machine
In this highly surveilled and surveillable age (not to mention AI) the AML/KYC regulations are obsolete AND privacy (the right to selectively reveal information about oneself ) is paramount and Bitcoin is the first building block of this right
So the absence of seized goods prove that there is no contraband coming across the border? There's a logical fallacy here.
We have containers full of stolen cars leaving ports in Canada for destinations all over the world, a huge drug trafficking problem in Canada as a distribution node for drugs all over the world, but we blithely assume fentanyl isn't a problem? The obvious implication is that Canada is underperforming on border security.
Yah, that's not a logical argument. Canadian border/customs security is notoriously lax, as my examples point out. So blaming the US is kinda weird.
Canadian jingoistic criticism of the US is performative and is the opposite of what Canada should be doing, which is understanding and addressing the US' concerns.
It’s unfortunate that mr baber has abandoned the rational critical thought he championed. His parroting of idf propaganda has been more than disappointing- not expecting him to agree with me but to at very least show some balance AND yes critical thought.
Yes Roman- Do u follow his instagram? He has repeated all of the idf propaganda, dehumanized the Palestinians - not corrected when extreme claims were debunked and showed zero balance or even any empathy.
I can understand a visceral reaction but he’s clearly an empathetic and intelligent person and I’d expect he’d have some historical context and know these events didn’t happen in a vacuum. If he’s so blinded by tribalism then…it’s not limited to this issue and mr baber - so many of the Covid era hero’s have failed. Issues surrounding free speech come to mind. I’m sure uve spoken on it.
Try looking in to the fraudulent holocaust narrative and the post-WWII rules based order it justifies and see where that takes you. PErhaps then you will be able to explain this, and then see a larger pattern. Until then...stay...critical?
Who needs formal education ? Just loved hearing the greatly animated tone with this pod cast -seemed like I was hearing a normal conversation . I'm in awe of all the information you both have due to your years of research and ability to see between the lines of what we are told. I think, although the virus debacle was obscene on many human rights levels , I've learned more in these past few years from pod casts like this , than all my years of formal education . I am forever indebted to you for keeping my eyes wide open and focused on what I believe is the real truth. Don't for a minute think you are insane - those in power would love that kind of gas lighted thinking - having worked in psychiatry for almost 20 years in medical systems,I know what insane can look like and I also get the hubris of the medical environment . Not sure when you did this pod cast but you sounded refreshed . Time alone can be restorative and the stoics would agree how important it is to turn inward . Thank you .
I believe the real problem in Canada is that many of its citizens are ignorant of our political system. How many Canadians even know what prorogation is? How many understand that Trudeau shut Parliament down even though he DID NOT have the confidence of the house? How many realize that Carney is the first PM in history who has never ever been elected by the voters.
The Liberals keep doing what they are doing because they know they will get away with it because they have a fairly ignorant populace. They also have mainstream media in their backpocket who consistently pump out the Trump bad strories while barely saying a peep about prorogration, etc. The Liberals won the last election because the unvaccinated were the boogey man..now its Trump. Thats their playbook. They get Canadians angry about someone, a group, a threat and then say they are their to defend them. And Canadians keep falling for it.
Poilievre still has a shot of winning mainly because Carney is such an ineffective speaker. But its going to be a really tough battle for him to fight the media complex, counter the TDS and fear out there. Poilievre didnt help himself by borrowing many of Trumps mannerisms and the silly slogans. Also the Libs have so much material they can point out showing Conservatives wearing MAGA hats or supporting those "evil" convoy people and so on. We are going to see full demonization of Poilievre and the Conservatives over the next month.
Bitcoin is the potential Canadian reformation , this election is fairly moot
‘Murican “stablecoins” (stable for whom?!) OR carney shoe-horning the digital euro/yuan into Canada OR some digital loonie monstrosity being cooked up will likely be the dissolution of Canada … all of these share the same characteristics of being debased and permissioned currencies

There were only 50 lbs. of fentanyl seized coming across the very long border from Canada for ALL of 2024. See: https://usafacts.org/answers/how-much-fentanyl-is-seized-at-us-borders/country/united-states/ You quote some media re more.. the MSM Trish? The is some fuckery about and is not about Fentanyl.
