Two years ago, after listening to the rhetoric from Trudeau and the silence of opposition, my husband and I embarked on the tortuous job of getting paperwork in order, researching and deciding where to flee etc. last year we were finally ALLOWED to travel and we visited that country for the first time in my life (my husband had been there once about 30 years ago). We have recently been accepted for citizenship there 🥳 and are in the process of divesting all of our assets here in Canada. It is a relief to know that we can escape. None of our family know of our plans, only one very close supportive friend. We are not alone. Many many Canadians are doing or have done the same.

Fast forward to today, when the absurdly arrogant and stupid lot currently in Ottawa cannot read the room. Instead of swallowing their pride, admitting that mistakes have been made with public policy that has alienated a sizable chunk of the Canadian electorate, they double down with Stalinist legislation cloaked in Orwellian double-speak like "modernization" in order to go after their critics.

The same thing is happening in the EU and the UK. The only hope IMHO in the western world is in the US. Clueless as the lumpenproletariat are, they know something is badly wrong. It's omnipresent so it's hard to see. It explains why "Rich men North of Richmond " took off from nowhere. "They wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do ". They want total control--over you! They can't tolerate loosing the message/mind control. All you need to know you can learn from George Carlin and the political prisoner, Julian Assange. What they're doing to Tamara Lich and the rest including the prisoners out west, in jail after a year with no trial in sight doesn't compare to Julian and even the Jan 6 people. The mendacious ruling classes will stop at nothing to maintain power. Message control is paramount but they'll risk nuclear war and the hundreds of thousands of dead young men in the Ukraine mean nothing to them. Millions dead from war's and sanctions mean nothing to them, only total control over everyone by "any means necessary!"
Much has happened to me in my lifetime from being diagnosed with cancer, losing a beloved sibling to AIDS to estrangement from a daughter, but the present government in this country has caused so much angst and anger. Some are embarrassed but I am genuinely pissed off and worry that we haven’t seen the last of the tragedies inflicted on us. My husband and I were ridiculed for our stance on the vaccines and called horrible names and Trudeau incited hatred towards all of us while he called those in Ottawa fighting for everyone’s freedom “Nazis”. He is nothing more than pure evil. I fear for our country unless we are rid of him and not one more Trudeau is ever allowed in the political ring.

Wow, you covered a lot of territory in this passionate post, from the corruptness of Trudeau, the media's complicity in trashing the Convoy and the tragedy of families whose father's came home so damaged from WW2. As I mentioned earlier my dad was in his late 20's when the war broke out and did go to sign up, but was rejected for health reasons, of which I have never been clear on. So I guess I was one of the lucky ones. My husband's father and uncle both served--his father returned and simply never spoke of the war, his young uncle a pilot , only 21 did not. You speak again of how the truckers were so badly smeared by the media, which many people believed. My sister was one of them. I called her the other day and mentioned that I had taken upon myself to go and watch the Barber-Lich trial. I told her I had met and spoken to them both and they were just ordinary people. Her response back was well I woundn't want to meet them, because I think they're idiots. She asked me to stop talking about it because it was upsetting her. I swear if I hadn't stopped, she would have hung up on me. And now more about Trudeau's lies about the Convoy -- probablu the biggest victims of all this are the four men who have spent some 600 days in remand centres in Albert. Gord McGill has written a tremendous article about them in Newsweek Magazine. I am currently in Europe. I spent 6 hours on Friday at Dachau. It was a sobering reminder of how insidiously incremental the decline to authoritarian rule can be. Opened in 1933, it's original purpose was to simply house Hitler's political opponents. We all know how that evolved.
The methods are eerily familiar. Silence opposition, suspend civil rights, control the dissemination of news, imprison without trial and overt intimidation.

That's unfortunate. I have tried to keep the peace by keeping my mouth shut. Early on, when I told her that I had actually visited the Convoy, (I live in Ottaws) and that CBC was telling bald faced lies about them, but she refused to listen. I even sent her the video of a converstion between Jordan Peterson and Rex Murphy, probably to of Canada's most respected sages discussing the diservice being done with the Convoy. Her response, it was too long to listen. No, I suspect it was telling her things she didn't want to hear. So very sad. But, I have two other siblings who have passed away, she is the only one left, so I keep the peace and I am the younger of the two of us.
That sounds very familiar, they rip us apart for being 'conspiracy theorists' rather than listen to the narrative to make an informed opinion! Can't believe my sister actually called me conspiracy theory when she knows how much reading and research I do. Our honorable members and the Chief of defence and likely the judiciary proved that they are no better than drunks in a sports bar. It's Mass formation, a genetic flaw in Homo sapiens easily exploited by the ruling classes. There's no doubt in my mind that ALL of them would have done the same as old Ukrainian teenager cannon fodder given the same circumstances. Not a brave person or an independent critical thinking person in the lot. I remember going to a corporate gun club meeting almost 60 years ago and the presenter asked the audience to stand and take the corporate pledge. There were almost 100 people in the room. With the exception of my brother and myself ALL stood up like the sheeple they were. Courage to go against the group is exceedingly rare. I don't fault the teenager cannon fodder but I do fault the parliamentarians, none were brave, none were outstanding, ALL were feckless sock puppets and sheeple. Our "boys" had no problem firebombing defenseless German women and children, think about that before you judge the kid! BTW, our boys had no problem bombing Libya back to the stone age. Nothing really changes.
