Having been raised in the contemporary art world of downtown TO, my perspective around gender and sexuality has always been very left of centre / live-and-let-live, so I am shocked and confused by this current chaos. I also recognize that my limitations in understanding stem in part from having quite a few adult male friends but not having brothers, sons or grandsons, resulting in little direct experience of the male developmental cycle. Reading your piece set off a lightbulb: it feels as though the identity struggle boys have been enduring for decades that has resulted in a massive mental health crisis includes a perception that being female is the logical Antidote to not being able to live up to 'being a man' as defined by our outdated and dysfunctional societal norms. They've literally cracked under the pressure. The result looks like rapidly self-replicating cancer cells in a societal setting. Sad. And also concerning. In Tasmania (the small island State south of mainland Australia) we have cross-dressers (male drag queens) telling stories to pre-school kids in the local library in a town of roughly 80,000 population.
One story was titled "Frockodile" about a male crocodile who longs to wear a dress. The library had security guards present just in case some mothers came to protest.
This whole insane trans support thing is yet another facet of the attempt to de-stabilise the core moral principles of our Western societies. I mean previously these things were practised mostly behind closed doors, which is an adult right, presumably if all involved are consenting adults.
But this is not the norm at all and in fact many gay people who have been living their lives quietly with their partners etc, such as "Gays Against Grooming" are now incensed at these idiots.
What is most sad to me is how women, who have had a long, hard slog over many decades to achieve some semblance of equality in all their aspects of life, are now being targeted as much as anyone by these fools.
Fools by the way who stoop to chanting expletives to drown out a reasonable person, as in the video, in a child-like exhibition of petulant yet aggressive behaviour. This chanting of expletives is almost a form of "echolalia", the psychological repetition of the same words or behaviour as exhibited by the profoundly distressed, in an attempt to relieve their emotional pain.
The question arises though- why is this a strategy and why have the representatives of authority, such as the Police, been "ordered" to ignore and even support these people, or is it also partly their choice.
One things for sure. The rational majority, no matter what their beliefs and sexuality, have to challenge this madness. It's therefore time that males stand up en masse against this and provide overdue support for the genuine women who are incensed and also bewildered perhaps, by this attack on what it means to be female. I have to thank CSI: Las Vegas for introducing me (& anyone who watched the show) to furries and infantilism. 🙄 They had 2 cases that covered both of these. The fact fetishes are going mainstream is unreal. A friend's teen daughter said they had furries at her high school. They wear ears & tails. They don't use the restroom, they use litter boxes.
What madness is this? What is happening? Seems like we should be getting these kids psychiatric help, not encouraging them. I love the parallels to other body dysmorphic disorders like anorexia & cutting. You wouldn't tell an anorexic person they are fat and that they should have lap bands, liposuction & diet pills.
