Trish, I hope you recover quickly. I stumbled about with a cam walker for 7 months recently. Really stressful experience.

What happened to you?

Very different from your situation. Required a joint fusion in my foot last summer and was told I would need the walking boot for a month. Dragged out for seven months and required a bone growth stimulator. Very difficult taking the boot on and off to drive and to shower etc. So glad the experience is over. Really struggled emotionally for a time. Praying for you.

Oh, Jim…that sounds just awful. I really am on the comeback trail I think. It hurts less and I am mostly mobile with the boot outside. I hope you are now pain free.

Oh Trish. I’m so sad to hear of your injury. I came on here to check why your podcast wasn’t loaded the last two Saturdays. Please do take care of your injury and healing yourself. You have been a huge part of my keeping my sanity the last few years and I look forward to your return once you are healed enough. Sending you healing thoughts and prayers, and a big hug. So very grateful for you. Lynn

Hope your foot is healing and we'll be hearing from you very soon. Have you heard of American CLIMATE Scientist, Dr. Judith Curry? She is the voice of reason when it comes to all the hysteria and might make a great guest on your show. I'd love to hear her views on Trudeau's latest carbon tax hike.

Trish - so sorry to hear life got very literal and put you in bed. Your courage and tenacity deserves a rest, bless the healing it brings along with your foot. I’m a health professional (Osteo) and have treated LisFramc fractures on a few occasions over the past 20+ years. As you say, they are rare. I’d come to you but I’m in the Purcell Mountains of BC, so that won’t work. I recommend you reach out to Pam Ennis (she has a website). She’s in the beaches, and has hands of an angel and a great big heart. Gentle and supportive osteopathy will work alongside your other rehab approaches when you get there in the weeks ahead.

Rest deep friend. You are a rockstar. Hugs.

Hi Trish,

I’m so sorry to hear about the injury you sustained from your unfortunate accident.

Hopefully you are able to rest well and keep comfortable while you heal.

Thank you for sharing the picture of your dog. Those puppy-dog eyes are so endearing.

I’m wishing you a full and speedy recovery, and looking forward to having you back in our lives, in podcast format, very soon!

You may find the information in the link below helpful. The article gives an overview of the physiology of fracture healing and outlines nutritional needs for each stage of healing.

https://www.betterbones.com/fractures-and-healing/speed-up-fracture-healing/

Regarding emergency room care, in BC, almost all of the time, at almost every ER in the Province, access to hospital wards is blocked for patients who need to be admitted for in-patient care. There is not enough patient flow and people are left waiting on ER stretchers, sometimes for days. This means new, incoming ER patients are deprived of the basic medical need to be adequately examined and treated on a stretcher with privacy and proper monitoring. I know people who have recently been examined and diagnosed while sitting in a crowded waiting room.

These problems are plaguing Canada’s health care system, nationwide. However, in BC we have the added strain of coping with the loss of thousands of healthcare professionals who were terminated from their positions, for not taking the shot, and continue to be barred from returning to their work more than two years later.

Currently, workers who work for a Provincial Health Authority in British Columbia are still required to show proof of vaccination to be allowed to work. This includes workers who do not have in-person contact with patients, such as administrative workers, or those who work remotely.

A group of healthcare workers, filed a petition to the Supreme Court of British Columbia on March 16, 2022. On November 10, 2023, the scheduled 10-day hearing began at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Counsel for the petitioners presented their legal arguments to the Supreme Court of British Columbia on December 18, 2023.

Further written submissions were made on behalf of the petitioners on January 22, 2024, in response to January 15, 2024 submissions made by the BC Attorney General. Justice Simon Coval has yet to render a decision on this case.

Please take it easy...foot injuries are so "sucky" (technical term) because of weight bearing. I have to say Toronto exceeds all expectations again. My recent time in hospital with my dad (in and out over 18 days) involved NO encouragements to mask, no screening and no limitation on number and frequency of visitors. ALL staff (with the exception of one dismissive infectious disease doc who quickly found her tail squarely between her legs) were warm and more than competent. Given my dad had pneumonia I expected at least some of the covid era hysteria, and so I was pleasantly surprised...and it also felt a bit surreal after all the machinations of the past 4 years. In fact, the most surreal part was trying to get anyone to take seriously that he had inflammatory complications post covid (all tests were negative as 2 months had elapsed) vs infectious/bacterial pneumonia. He needed steroids not antibiotics and it took nearly 10 days, 4 iv antibiotics, 3 chest tubes, 2 CT scans, finally a bronchoscopy and a partridge in a pear tree to finally convince anyone of this given his negative PCR tests. I was experiencing some serious cognitive dissonance...I mean, 3 years ago a hangnail was diagnosed as covid. What a world. Get well and catch up on some recreational reading maybe:)

Oh, and if you're feeling at all well enough to read as you rest, you may want to consider Dr. Suzanne Humphries' book called Dissolving Illusions. You've discussed (and rightfully so) your concerns re the covid vaccines. I recognized the covid era as a new chapter in an old book. I'm a holistic veterinarian and have been studying vaccines and vaccine safety for over 20 years. We have been sold a bill of goods re the safety and efficacy of vaccines for many decades. Suzanne's book is an excellent one to introduce yourself to some of the true story. I know you have so much on your plate, but if at all interested in a lowly veterinarian's perspective, I'd be happy to send you a copy of my book - Musings of a Holistic Veterinarian - Let's Talk about Animal and Human Health. All the best, Marilyn Sthamann
