Do the children get to take it home of the weekends? Or does that fall to the teacher. We took turns with our class rabbit.

Expand full comment

No, the teacher takes it home every night.....on a sad note, there was another teacher with a class bunny in 2019 and it died in the school fire...... I was so heartbroken.....poor thing..... 🐰

I gave my daughter a card with the nutbrown hare with that epithet. As an artist I love that it was art that inspired love.

I bet she loved it. Art does inspire love and we must inprise each other in the New Year to do

the best we can -- how do we come back together?

Just like this. It will start small, as it has and then grow quickly. I have faith in my grandkids. Liberal people but conservative culturally. (how did that happen). Lol.

Same here in Calgary - the culprits seem to be homeless and/or mentally ill.

How lovely, I myself have always loved rabbits, even had some as pets growing up.

I did too. And the story of the Nut Brown Hare was a favourite. Hope you are doing well!

I always loved the Veleveteen Rabbit, it wasn't a real rabbit, but it was, which is what I loved about the story. I just came back from Vancouver after seeing my daughter's show. So nice to see and spend time with her as she isn't going to be home for Christmas.

This brought tears to my eyes. Anyone who is “awake” is starving for true human goodness, not the virtue signalling that masquerades as goodness. Blessings on you, Trish.

We must all stand for human goodness. Now more than ever -- they win if we let them turn us into something else.

Very lovely article and I agree we really need to focus on what is beautiful and good. I am behind on a number of your podcasts but I heard you say you lost 20 pounds on the carnivore diet. I desperately need to lose 20 pounds too as my blood sugar gets higher and higher. Could you talk about that in a podcast or direct me to some information

Carnivore is a meat only diet. Very extreme. I have modified mine to include small amounts of vegetables. They key for me is to be in ketosis -- both for my mental and physical health. I test with strips you can get on Amazon. Jordan Peterson and his daughter are on it and have been for years. There is lots of information online. I would caution depending on your overall health but super low carb is always a win for me. Contact me at info@trishwoodpodcast.com. Have a happy holiday!

I was pleased to see the headline for this piece because it reminds me of one of my favourite poems, Pangur Bán, which in the Robin Flowers translation has this couplet:

I get wisdom day and night

Turning darkness into light.

Multiple and regular broken windows are a big deal and we've realised that for 41 years since Kelling & Wilson's article in the Atlantic. My guess is that whoever is doing this knows exactly what they are doing and has an objective in mind. That might be to damage the neighbourhood, perhaps they have a grudge. It might be to provide a reason for more surveillance, particularly the kind of AI-driven Live Facial Recognition that is becoming a threat to freedom in many places including my own country. It might be to damage small local businesses so that the way is cleared for national and multi-national replacements. It might just be bloody-mindedness. Whatever the reason it's something to take seriously and as the (retired) owner of a small business I know how draining it is to see thin margins eaten away by unplanned expenditure. The hare mural is lovely but the person or group breaking the windows must be identified and stopped.
