Hi Trish, I love the work you are doing on behalf of us all! Your commitment to transparency and truth. Journalism at its finest! Thank God we had you during the plandemic! Re, the titles of recent pods, using the word "meltdown" goes against the grain for me. And plays into an external agenda to keep the public in trauma. Language is VERY powerful. Our intention collectively (We the People) is to bring change, peace, healing, justice. LOVE. I hope you might consider rewording your headlines ... thank you!
Customer service is dead and I don't know how to get it back. Went to a lounge at a golf course here in Calgary and literally had to go up to the bar to get our drinks - twice. We had to ask another server to take our food order, and get our bill. We paid cash to our original server, but by then she was MAD! She literally threw the change down on the table and walked away. No tip from either of us, but she did nothing for us! Unfortunately this is not an isolated instance.
You are so on point Trish. The journalists, PDs and camera- peeps l worked with in the UK were the absolute best. I'm going to give a shout out to Yorkshire Television's Andrew Hartley who was the first film cameraman in Chernobyl. Also Mike Shrimpton who risked life and limb (and arrest) to cross borders to get into Beirut and filmed for another YTV documentary.
I PM'd the annual Rory Peck Awards in the UK to acknowledge and commemorate cameramen and journalists (often post-mortem) who literally put their lives on the line to bring the visuals & stories into people's livingrooms.
I literally keep welling up over the loss of these five Al Jazeera journos at the hands of the IDF and the 200+ martyrs that have gone before them. The truth must prevail.
Have a wonderful trip to Italy. I never went there in the summer but, the DH Skiing was amazing - cold but, amazing.
The current Pope speaks American so you should be good in St.Marks square on Sunday. Have you invested in a Translator App and hopefully you've made sure you have an international deal with your cell phone provider.
I agree that the National Post has been good on a number of news stories, including their fair coverage of the trial of Tamara Lich and Chris Barber. (Here's one example: https://nationalpost.com/opinion/from-killings-to-rape-the-heinous-crimes-that-could-get-you-less-jail-time-than-a-freedom-convoy-organizer) But with this NP headline you've drawn our attention to, a majority (or close to that) of readers will take as gospel what the headline states. Too many adult Canadians cannot conceive of being lied to my the media they follow. For many who I know, I don't think this is a conscious process, it's just assumed and unexamined. There is no requirement for Canadians to take a media literacy course before casting a vote. So the damage this kind of headline does is it gives life to a lie that will be believed by many for years. Humans are reluctant to revisit their assumptions, especially when they are emotionally fused with shocking headlines that make people anxious, afraid, disgusted etc.
The moral collapse of our society - as with MAID-a-rama - is accelerated with our falling in love with the gods of speed. If we can reach a conclusion in a nanosecond based on reading one news story, what to think, we give ourselves permission to be slothful. We tell ourselves a lie that one shocking news headline is all we need to know, and it becomes a 'slam dunk.'
Add to this, we are living in a post-debate society. All controversial topics - the Science is settled etc. - are out of bounds. Our political leadership and mainstream media tell us over and over again that the discussion is over. Just believe what you've been told, and do what you're told.
One of the best gifts we as Canadians can give ourselves is to go on an international holiday (if we can afford it). One in another country, we will notice other norms and societal ways of being that are not part of our new normal. Enjoy your time in Italy, and all things distinctly Italian. Ciao bella.
You seem rather perplexed. You are wondering why the West’s politicians are sitting on their hands while evil is unleashed in Gaza?
Ask Jeffrey Tucker. He was instrumental in buying a bookstore in New York. It was called Laissez Faire Books. He saw to it that many books no longer easily accessible were published on-line. As an aside he advised his followers to have a look at BitCoin when each coin was less than $1.
Good advice! Some of those books were published in the 1920s and 1930s. They were disappeared during the 1940s and after. Very interesting material in those books!
I have been reading books about the history of money for more than 55 years — beginning when I was a teenager.
Most people do not understand money. The way it is explained in university — or alluded to in the business papers and business magazines and until fairly recently in textbooks and online — cleverly elides and glosses over the most important aspects of the stuff you have in your pocket book or your purse.
Gradually, as my inquires begin to close in on the reality, it slowly began to dawn on me that money was a commodity and those who control a market for any good or service i.e. any commodity you’d care to mention — will manipulate costs, prices, access, and the amount of it.
Few understand that the Federal Reserve and the Bank for International Settlements are private banks — not government agencies of some imaginary kind.
The Treasury Department in the U.S. is a government agency but the Treasury Department borrows money from the Federal Reserve. The Treasury Department is an instrument which the Government uses to borrow money. The Government is controlled by a few insiders and lobbyists. The insiders in Congress set government policy. Much of that policy is done in the dark!
So for example when you read or hear that war “broke out” you can be sure that war does not have a mind of its own and decide to “break out.” The firms with the most to gain from war are banks and bankers. They and their agents work diligently behind the curtains to let loose the dogs of war. Of course the lobbying interests, including the deep state do not work for the national interest anywhere. ZIDSO — the Zionist International Deep State Oligarchy operate the entire ball of wax.
Their loyalties are to Jews. These are their words! Quoting Theodore Herzl the founder of Zionism.
We are one nation,” he said. “We are neither American Jews nor Soviet Jews, but only Jews.”
Re: Ted Bundy? I have not read all the comments, so if I'm repeating something, sorry about that! I watched a woman interviewed by Joe Rogan recently. From his site: "Caroline Fraser is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and editor. Her most recent book is "Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers." Fascinating interview about serial killers & a possible connection to lead. To those who have not done any research on what lead does to human brains, this may sound wacko. I went kind of deep on lead research for a while there, in the early to mid-2000s & am aware of a link between crime & lead exposure. (There used to be lead in gasoline; thankfully that changed eventually, due to legislation, & yes, there are studies suggesting crime rates went down. Significantly.) So. People may want to pooh-pooh this, but I'd suggest you watch the interview. This woman did a whole lot of research before she wrote her book. As I recall, Ted Bundy WAS mentioned as having grown up near a lead smelter or some other source of lead pollution. The Rogan interview is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-MwP-HotfE&list=PLk1Sqn_f33KuWf3tW9BBe_4TP7x8l0m3T&index=6

For sure this kind of environmental influence never affects ALL people in the same way. I just have to think of the 4 siblings in my own family - how different we all are. Clearly lots of genetic mix from both sides of our family, i.e., mother & father. And the same thing with my own 2 kids, whose health stories I need not go into here. Suffice it to say, different toxins have different impacts on different people. And family stuff that devastates one sibling in a family doesn't do the same damage, or amount of damage, to all 4 siblings. My own "birth family" certainly illustrates this in spades!? The author of the book is quite fascinating to listen to. Big picture stuff, of course - not just one serial killer. Anyway. Having done the deep dive on lead that I did years back now (most of it has fallen out of my brain by now), I found it riveting.
Sorry Noah, but I must 100% disagree with you. My disagreement is based not so much the bottom line position, opinion, revelations. It more regarding what is you guiding values, priorities, sense if individual justice not in the aggregate. So someone who is interested in problem solving and human collateral damage is ok as opposed to property and problem solving efficiency is collateral damage the POV is different and may in direct conflict based on values and priorities. So if you re-listen prioritizing a totally innocent toddler being blown to bits justified by a higher priority you will understand better.

We can legitimately question the journalistic integrity of both the CBC and National Post, based on the primary sources of their funding. Many are openly contemptuous of claims to objectivity from the CBC, in particular.
Using the same criteria, one must be equally dubious about Al Jazeera. A media organization that receives 90% of it's funding from the Qatary government is highly suspect. Given their record of sponsoring unsavoury Islamic causes, there is justification in suspecting an underlying agenda. I feel caught in the middle of opposing psyops, each competing for hearts and minds. Al Jazeera did lose employees in Gaza. Describing them as journalists might be a stretch.
Hasbara pushing the "Qatar controls the media" Narrative. Just pathetic. What are your orders for next week's bullshit? Probably freaking out about peace breaking out with Russia?
Tim Rainville, you write, "Al Jazeera did lose employees in Gaza. Describing them as journalists might be a stretch."
Israel does not let foreign journalists from places like Canada into Gaza. Israel does not let representatives of major media companies like Post Media into Gaza. Post Media publishes the National Post about which Trish Wood said a lot concerning their extreme Zionist bias. So indigenous Native Palestinians, who are being starved to death, carpet bombed, dehydrated, losing limbs on and on are left with the task of documenting the event so that some images and their interpretations can get out to the world.
The context of Canadian journalistic dishonesty, corruption and incompetence is completely different.
The heroic journalists inside Gaza face the same conditions as everyone around them, as they document a historic genocide, as they themselves are being targeted and eliminated.
Along comes Tim Rainville to look down at their still-hot corpses to say to the dead men, something like, you were only pretending to be journalists. You might have added, why should we take you seriously just because the function you Gazan journalists are performing, makes you a prime target for murder by the Israeli PR spin doctors.
Should the title of "real" journalists be reserved for the likes of the Zionist-funded reporters such as those who work for the National Post, those leaping to the conclusion, without evidence, that the assassinated Anus Al-Shafani is a Hamas agent disguised as a journalist."
Think about it Tim. You say you "feel caught in the middle." I think you are fooling yourself. You've chosen sides, maybe without realizing it..
Actually, I have very mixed feelings over Gaza and Israel, which ebb and flow with each new development. What I have chosen to be is highly skeptical of many news sources with compromised ethics.
What about the ethical dimension of mass slaughter? Or is the mass slaughter some sort of delusion that isn't at all what our own eyes and ears seem to be seeing? What about the ethics of standing by passively in skeptical uncertainly while the mass murder of a people unfolds before your eyes? What about the ethics of not acting when you have the capacity to do something about stopping the slaughter? Have you ever in all your life see anything that remotely comes close to this level of murderous cruely by one group of human beings towards another? Name an example of anything that comes close to it? How do you see The Holocaust in relation to what I and many others see as the Gaza genocide?
Tim, I've been in the business for decades as you know. Al Jazeera is and has been respected for its foreign coverage -- with a slant -- by many. Their teams in Gaza have been the bravest of the brave enduring many family deaths, hardships, terror, and hunger. Compared to the pampered poodles at work elsewhere in legacy media, they deserve respect. We hired Pals as our fixers in the field and they were terrific.
Trish, Many reliable observers view Al Jazeera as the voice of Qatar’s regime and Qatar has been one of Hamas' most important financial backers and foreign allies. It has openly harboured several senior Hamas leaders. In terms of editorial independence, Al Jazeera hasn't voiced a single criticism of the Qatari government in it's 30 year history. My point is simply that there are as many reasons to be skeptical over it's ownership influence as the National Post.

The "evil Qatar owns the media, not the gentle Jews!" narrative just emerged, with all of their talking points loaded up. Jordan Peterson and Douglas Murray led the charge. It was clearly orchestrated in a very similar way to the NYT/ MSM daily talking points that go out to editors in the wee hours every day. This happens all the time, and it becomes really easy to see. Just assume that the Western press will lie in various ways to support Israel, and push globalist narratives every time. Older people just lap it up becase it comes from "trusted" sources.
The Qatari government is so deeply involved in the Gaza genocide that its not in the ideal position to be an ojective observer. The same goes, however, for the Zionist media which manages to disguise itself so well in the West that we're not supposed even to notice it. Then there is the community of Palestinian people who have a collective life of their own. They really have nowhere else to turn than Aljazeera for coverage of their plight.
A lot goes back into what really happened on Oct. 7 2023. What really happened and who made it happen or let it happen.

With Bolshevik governments comes madness and rudeness. Sometimes even lock-downs/curfews and the censuring (or stifling of speech).
One of the first laws, if not the first, enacted by Lenin was to make 'speech-offending jews' a capital offense.
We are already scoring high on the Bolshevik Nation scale.
Have a great time in Italy with your sons 😁.
