I feel like I talked to much in this interview..... I might have him back to tell more.

Sometimes I forget it is an interview and not a phone call with a good friend. I'm lucky to have these people in my life......

Sometimes listening to you is just so soothing. You just make so much sense, when I often have trouble expressing myself about this craziness. Thank you. Hope to see you in March as we see the final days, I hope of the Lich-Barber trial.

Your conversation was thought provoking in moving forward in this new world. There has been interesting information coming out how the smartphones are leading to mental decline through lack of new connections in the hippocampus. The same is also being seen with recent injections. Both are leading towards mass amount of people will be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. And interestingly a couple of the big pharma companies are speeding up the approval for new Alzheimer’s medication. Kind of wonder if there is a connection?

Trish, you are the best. I don't know how I got turned on to you, but I'm so glad I did. I could go on and on about why that is, but I'll simply say: Thank You. This was yet another great episode and amazing discussion.

Love, a soon-to-be paid subscriber and merch purchaser.

Forgot to add that I love that you shared about your music “rabbit hole”. During covid I just stopped listening to music. I need to get that back.

Great interview, Trish. It's really hit home with me about how dangerous they are. I have a smartphone and admit to spending too much time on it, I'm going to reduce! However I do have my ways of fighting back. I do real jigsaw puzzles, never play games on my phone. I refuse to cuddle up with a kindle to read a book, I support small independant book stores and love holding a book and readinng when i soak in the bath. I stay creative, engage my imagination and make artwork. I won't do online sales for my business, the customer either has to come in or phone to make the sale. I like talking to people.

I'm going to look at more ways to stay present in my life. Maybe I'll start making myself remember phone numbers like i use to, that should be fun as a 66 year old, lol.

I struggle with the smart phone. On one hand, it has been a lifeline these past years! In the other hand, totally see how it will be part of society’s demise. I hate using google maps and other apps that take away my sense of self and agency. One thing though , his comments on liking being in Hong Kong with its massive technocracy didn’t make sense to me.

With respect to the Coutts Four situation, when Mendicino testified at the POEC, in his testimony he didn't 'allege, these things about the guys. Defense lawyers four the men had sought and received a publication ban, because incindiary statements such as these could poison the jury pool. But that didn't seem to matter at the POEC. Mendicio could publicly slander the men and the media happily published his comments.

There are ways to have a smart phone without surrendering your autonomy to it. To start with, there are alternatives to iOS and Android that don't harvest your data to sell to the highest bidder.

You can install LineageOS, GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, or /e/OS on a wide variety of devices.

If you're in the market for a new phone, there are companies like Librem in North America and Fairphone in Europe that specifically make phones designed for privacy.

Beyond that it's just a matter of not installing Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Those apps are not preloaded in alternative OSes.

Canadian independent researcher Amazing Polly had the same summation a few years ago. It will take a monumental reversal of public addiction to undo.

I loved this…having said that I was colouring on my smart phone app while listening to this! 😩 Helpppp!

I too am a fan of Rick Beato and love his “what makes this song great” series especially the very Gordon Lightfoot song “If You Could Read my Mind”. Rick did an amazing tribute to Gordon Lightfoot within hours of when he died last year. Check it out! Also, I just watched his interview with Brian May of Queen and Brian went on about how much HE loved watching Rick’s videos as well. Also, Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” is beautifully dissected by Rick. Love all your stuff Trish! Especially your voice…made for soothing radio/podcasts. 😊

I say this with all due respect to the cell phone addicts - I mean no malice! Okay?

There is no need whatsoever for these idiotic contraptions! Did the world cease to exist before they were invented? I don't think so. What part of can anyone not see they are a deliberate diversion and intentional dumbing down of society? They are worse than every single addiction, combined! Drugs, gambling, food., etc. Go ahead and lambaste your alcoholic spouse, child, friend or sibling while you're holding one in your hand because you can't put it down! Trust me your addiction to cell phones is a thousand times worse than theirs. At least they can stop for hours on end whereas you can't! It also solidified that everyone suffers from addiction which is exactly what they exploited. No one can stop. So before you criticize anyone take a good long look at yourself!

I personally would love nothing more than to rip one out of everyone's hand to prove just how non-sensical the crap is they are looking at! Important my ass. There is not ONE excuse anyone can use to validate there existence! Not one. Years ago doctors used pagers! When people ask what I would do in case of an emergency, my answer is, I can assure you someone WILL have a cellphone! My kids need one for school? Another bullshit excuse. What happened to calling the principals office? No kid should ever have a phone in school for any reason! Then you wonder why they are all falling behind. It's an addiction and all of you are guilty! You choose and refuse not to stop.

I have a flip phone I only use for work and even then, I seldom if ever answer it - because I loathe them that much. Texting makes my blood boil. I can think of no greater waste of time which is why I believe people do it - in order to deliberately waste time to avoid responsibility or actually work. How many infinite working hours are wasted? People know when they see me don't even think about using one. There is nothing more disrespectful than speaking with someone who answers a phone or starts to look at a screen. I walk away.

Although I am retired I still drive for a living and have nor will ever use one of these stupid GPS or whatever their called. I look at something called a map before I leave if I don't know my destination. I noticed a long time ago they are used to deliberately divert traffic - when I hear how someone arrived at their destination and what route they took. Not even close to the best way! I pick people up at the airport and still don't use them. Proving once and yet again they serve no purpose. It's nothing more than an addiction and no excuse on Planet Earth can justify them which is why I pray for a cyber attack. It'll be like watching billions of fish out of water - flipping out!

I see parents with kids in parks not paying an ounce of attention to the kid and wonder just how many kids are hurt or far worse because you couldn't put it down. Same thing with dog walkers. Everyone is so ensconced the poor dog is out in the street on the retractable leash or eating and or licking everything in sight! I spend my life screaming at people to PUT THE PHONE DOWN and pay attention! Several times I've had to chase a tiny kid from running in the street because the parent was looking at the phone!

No matter what anyone says there is no justification for them whatsoever. There is no greater waste of time and brain cells let alone massive disrespect. And what you're doing to your own children - the harm you're inflicting should disqualify from being a parent! I saw a women one day walking with her stroller - she stopped at every single corner to go to the front of the stroller which was facing forward and check on the child. No cell phone! Just great responsible parenting and I made sure I stopped to compliment her. I told her she was a true anomaly! She agreed how she saw the very same with people not paying attention addicted the to phone instead.
