Hi Trish this comment is related to your brief comment on cold dipping on a recent podcast episode. I happen to be pursuing a PhD in this area at the moment. Specifically we are looking at the impact of full body cold exposure on a number of endpoints, primarily 1. heart rate variability (because of what it tells us about how the autonomic nervous system is responding) as well as the effect on 2. systemic inflammation, 3. immune modulation (i.e. susceptibility to viral infections) and 4. pain perception. I have also been dipping myself on and off for a number of years and I swear by it especially in the winter months for mood and energy level.

Wim Hoff has inspired many to get involved however I will say that some of his claims are not that solid. There are still a lot of us working to quantify the benefits of cold exposure in a rigorous manner. There are some risks though that are quite well established. Hypothermia and frost bite are not that big a concern for those recreational dippers in controlled environments. Non-freezing cold injuries (NFCI) (e.g. trench foot) are becoming a much bigger issue though. Clinically I see a lot of NFCI in my military patients, however we are starting to see more of it in the recreational dipping community. It will generally manifest as apparent "circulatory problems" such as Raynaud's phenomenon and it can be a source of chronic pain. My advice to everyone is to protect your hands and feet with neoprene gloves and booties. The precise conditions it takes to get a NFCI are still unclear and in fact the water doesn't necessarily have to be that cold.

You are also correct there is a small cardiac risk associated with dipping which people need to be aware of. In organized settings, we always have a defibrillator nearby. I think not going alone is a really good start. From my understanding I would also suggest people avoid holding their breath as much as possible as there is a tendency for arrythmias to occur on the exhale. Also while there can be some benefits, immersing your face at the same time, especially during the initial cold shock period, may increase the risk of arrythmias. It's actually quite fascinating the reason for the later effect, but it takes some time to explain.

That's just a little bit of "low hanging fruit" in terms of how to make it safer for everyone.

Update: If you watched the WH media conference on the visits by Dr. Cannard you might have seen KJP dodge by saying that the doctor could have been visiting to see anyone connected to the WH. The reporters didn't check to see but the logs clearly state he visited the "residence" clinic which is wholly separate from another WH clinic in a different building.

“If you strip out the mannerisms and occasional lapses ...”

Oh, in other words, if things were different, they’d be different. Can’t argue with you there. If Biden weren’t occasionally shitting himself, he’d smell lots better, too.

And Biden’s “courage?” Hard to forget his thin-lipped mean-old-man face on the tube, trying to push Americans into taking the Sudden Death, Autoimmune Disease and Turbo-Cancer “vaxx,” informing us that his patience was “wearing thin.”

Biden is the dried-out, 98% dead husk of what’s always been an evil and wildly-corrupt dunce. The sorry end of the Senator From MBNA. As far as I’m concerned, the Dems can push the pillow over his senile face any old time. And they may do it soon.

Always the contrarian I see adroit nastiness and little compassion here. Where was the tsunami of hellfire when Regan was a babbling bumbling yet indefatigably cheerful president? How about Bush Jr. and his aphasia? Is it just because we have new methods of slinging the invective in hand? That Presidents are puppets isn’t a new phenomenon. What ever happened to medical confidentiality? In my view Biden is showing a huge amount of courage by exposing himself to all this invective. If you strip out the mannerisms and occasional lapses finding his words under pressure , he actually sounded way more coherent that Trump in the debate. I agree he has arrived at his Bb date, but maybe they aren’t ready, and it needs careful handling or the nation will devolve into a heaving mess. He does have handlers after all. He’s not going to be pushing any buttons without assistance! Surely the discussion could be more substantive?

Respectfully, presidents aren't permitted the kind of medical privacy that allows a cover-up of dangerous deficits in a leader and commander-in-chief. Anymore than pilots can skip drug testing if they appear intoxicated. The summaries of health reports on presidents are public and according to the WH medical organization, run by the military, it is done to keep the cabinet informed of the president's fitness for duty. This precludes "privacy". Dr. O'Connor has a lot to explain right now. Especially with two wars and the provocation of a war with Russia on-going. I'd like an American president who is compos mentis enough to stop the neocons running circles around him. And a DC apparatus not constantly plagued by coverups.

There’s very little suspense there. Myself, I’m voting Zero GOP 2024. Since they oppose nothing and are totally useless, the GOP must be destroyed.

As a Canadian journalist of some repute:

Am wondering whether you'll ever do a

deep dive in very very old "rumblings" about Trudeau's alleged sexual dalliance with a 15 year old female student while a teacher (along with a colleague and roommate, who is now a convicted pedophile... Fact not rumour...) at West Point Grey Academy?

Caught inflagrante, allegedly, by the adolescent teen's father.

Which allegedly got the kilt wearing good lookin' 29 year old drama teacher dismissed from said bougey Academy for Wealthy Asian and South American and (non live-in) Vancouver children...

There's a middle aged woman in Vancouver, as well as MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY, and old friends and former lovers of this alleged cute young sexpot (not victim shaming. Fact...) who, allegedly, have the goods, the pay-off numbers allegedly negotiated when rumblings of him running for PM initially surfaced.

""I could never run for public office. I have too many secrets..." (that quote is allegedly attributed to #FJT)

The (alleged) knowledge of specifics of the signed NDA are out there Trish.

As well as the names of Pierre's alleged attorneys whom "handled" the scandal.

At the alleged time of "discovery" and his sudden dismissal from WPGA and disappearance from Vancouver.

The attorneys who allegedly negotiated the payday and NDA are still out there.

No Canadian investigative journalist worth their salt has ever had the huevos to uncover the deets of those "rumours".

Is that steaming mound of compost STILL too hot to handle?

Asking for a friend who grew up in a bougey neighborhood of Kitsilano.

Thanks Trish.

I remember hearing about this around the time of the 2019 federal election. But I could never find anything to confirm what exactly "The Buffalo Chronicle" was, so I assumed it is a digital equivalent of The National Enquirer and let it go. That said, it does seem like there are a few pedos in JT's orbit, and the work that he has done as PM could be explained by a "control file" of this magnitude.

I grew up in bougey adjacent North Van. I'd love to look into this. Thanks for the summary.

Please, please look into this! Canadians still enamored with our narcissistic, entitled, condescending and morally bankrupt PM, need to be awakened by the truth!! He is destroying our once prosperous country.

I would love to see you look into this too. There is way too much smoke around this 'story' for there not to be fire. And Trudeau, when asked on numerous occasions about why he left West Point Grey Academy has provided a variety of different answers. The most recent was when Trudeau, decided to criticize Poilievre, during Question Period, for spending his entire professional life as a politician, noting that he Trudeau, had worked as a teacher. And Poilievre quickly fired back, yes, and we're still wonder why he left that position. Which of course caused a uproar in the House of Commons and more uproar among the media, who instead of asking Trudeau the same question that Poilievre did, went after Poilievre for implying something 'sinister' about Trudeau's departure. To which Poilievre replied, I don't know why he left, you'd have to ask him. So again, you see the media, rushing to protect Trudeau, rather than doing the digging they should be doing. So, even if you did uncover the truth, I suspect there would be the same conspiracy of silence around the story as there has been with the Coutts Four. Sad, but true.

The owner printed much better (not "alleged") summaries than I did.

Some of them are even archived.

Trish, this was good. We will be waiting to see if he “steps down.” On another note, I heard in your voice with your interview with Catherine Austin Fitts, your love of representative Thomas Massie, a modern day Abraham Lincoln if ever there was one. Do you find it odd that his 51 year old wife, who’d just been hiking with the family on a vacation to Mt Rainier the week before, died suddenly June 28th? (They were not vaccinated, just as an aside). Rhonda ran that 1500 acre Kentucky farm by herself while he was away in Washington. And Thomas had just done the Tucker interview about 3 weeks before. Then there was the odd and deeply inappropriate “tweet” to him from an ugly source just after her death, referring to his stance on a country currently engaging in genocide and that he do more reflection on it… It’s so concerning. I was wondering what your take on this is. No one wants to talk about it. But everyone is thinking it.

I think the died suddenly phrase can encompass at lot of things, including suicide which I am not at all alleging. It is odd that no cause has been given -- but there are many high profile people who would be in danger if criticism of this kind incited state violence. It wouldn't work to stop the criticism elsewhere without claiming credit. He is such a lovely guy and this is a sad story.

I know he’s crushed. He was so in love with her, you could tell in the interview. Well, I hope a cause of death is eventually released. It was certainly unexpected and I agree, I doubt she died by suicide. Many of us are heartsick for Mr. Massie over this tragedy.

The whole idea of the "Self governing professions" is an giant scam foisted on the lumpenproletariat plebs by the indoctrination industrial complexes. COVID 19 84 should have proven that to anyone capable of thinking outside of the boxes. Physicians were proven to be capable of lying, surprise surprise. Collegial conformity, surprise surprise. Venality, big surprise. Mendacity, another big surprise. Incompetence, surprise. Cowardly, really Big surprise. Being more indoctrinated than most from spending more time in the Big pharma medical center complexes being indoctrinated than the average HS grad does getting their indoctrination. COVID 19 84 has been the biggest opportunity in My long life time to have indoctrination scales pulled back from my eyes to see clearly how things "really are". It's not pretty but change is impossible while you believe in the "stories" you're told. As to POTUS; if you don't see reality, you are beyond hope and unfortunately, millions are beyond hope. In the most critical time in the western countries for five centuries We have the worst possible people for politicians to deal with seismic change happening. Good luck to us, we're gonna need it!

Well done, Trish! In another substack it was reported that Joe Biden is being treated with antipsychotic medication. These meds have a risk for prolonged QTc, which brings a risk for sudden cardiac arrhythmia and possibly death with someone with atrial fibrillation.

Expand full comment

Would you kindly send me the think. The antipsychotic is not listed in Dr. O'Connor's report so is this another hidden treatment. Love to know what it is and what the source is. That would suggest the Lewy Body version of dementia. There has to be another medical report they are hiding. No way around it.

Expand full comment

I have no proof, just another substack reader that commented on him being on antipsychotic meds. I worked 9 years as an NP in geriatrics diagnosing and treating dementia and am well aware of the “black box” warning I would give our family members when they pleaded with me to order “something” for violent outbursts. There is a 1% increase of stroke or cardiac arrhythmia with the black box warning.

You closed with: “Let’s see if the GOP can do anything besides write really mean letters.”

Bingo! That’s exactly what the GOP has been reduced to the last several years. This Senator or that Congressman tells constituents about signing onto a letter to this or that agency bureaucrat or cabinet member, only to GET NO REPLY from said recipient, basically a “Go F yourself” brush off. And then said GOPer writes home to tell voters they’re working hard for accountability in DC! See, see, see…I wrote letters. Argh!
